What is supply chain management
Supply chain management (SCM) is the process of planning, coordinating, and controlling the movement and storage of goods, services, and information from the raw material stage to the end customer. It involves managing the flow of goods and services from the supplier to the manufacturer, distributor, and retailer, and ultimately to the end consumer.
SCM involves a wide range of activities, such as sourcing raw materials and components, manufacturing and assembly, distribution and logistics, and customer service. It also involves managing the flow of information and data related to these activities, as well as coordinating with various stakeholders in the supply chain, such as suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers.
Effective supply chain management can help a company reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction by ensuring that goods and services are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner. It is an important aspect of business management and is relevant to companies in a wide range of industries.
